Sealcoating
Sealcoating
Sealcoating is the cheapest maintenance an asphalt pavement can get: it protects the surface from water, UV, oil and fuel, and restores an even black finish.
Before sealing we sweep and wash the surface, treat oil stains and seal cracks with hot elastic material. The sealer is then applied by squeegee or spray in two thin coats, respecting curing time between coats and never with rain approaching or low temperatures.
Sealing on time costs a fraction of resurfacing: water kept out and extra years of service.
How we do it
- Sweeping, washing and oil-stain treatment to guarantee adhesion.
- Cracks sealed with elastic material before the sealer goes on.
- Two thin coats, with curing between them and weather checked before starting.
Safety and timing
Sealer takes time to cure and stains easily: the area is fully closed and released section by section.
- Treated area fully closed during application and curing
- Gloves, eye protection and suitable footwear for the crew
- Kerbs, gullies and adjacent walls protected
- Reopened to traffic after 24 hours, weather permitting
Frequently asked questions
Every 2-4 years, depending on traffic and exposure to sun and spills.
